Adobe has been doing some innovative forward-thinking research for their Photoshop image editor. The idea is that photo editing becomes much more flexible if more information is stored already when picture is taken. This of course means that camera technology will need to leap forward and there will surely be use for computing power even in the future. Check out the rather amazing video from the demonstration. As the open source community has been able to produce tools like Gimp and Paint.NET it is great to see the market leader take steps to reinvent image editing. Some day we hopefully see even an After Effects version.
